VW Golf 1.6 Common rail diesel throttle pedal issues

We were presented with a 1.6 common rail diesel with an engine management light on and no throttle response .Initial investigation revealed a fault for both throttle output tracks simple enough must be a faulty throttle pedal or maybe not . Never relying on just fault codes tests were carried out on the  wiring between pedal and engine ecu . There was poor continuity on two of the connections between pedal and ecu and some significant wiring chafing very close to the ecu is there a connection ? The wiring near to the ecu has a torturous route and runs very close to the air filter housing this is were the loom had obvious damage . When the loom was opened up there was some significant damage and was soon confirmed as the same wiring back to the pedal . We had to splice in some new sections of wiring cutting back to good wiring . Continuity was then confirmed between the pedal and ecu , the loom was insulated and importantly routed away from the air filter . Faults cleared and the vehicle road tested confirmed a  successful fix .
